It’s Vacation Time! Music Playlists, Apps for Your Trips, and Giveaways

Whether you can afford the time and money to travel or a vacation means sitting with a coffee while it’s hot, we all need a break. Let’s dive into some of the ways you can get away. I hope you find something that works for your current lifestyle, because life is worth living in the moment!

MUSIC

For starters, turn some music on. In the car, the kitchen, or at work, music can always put you in the mood. Start with this playlist I put together of 40 songs to get you bouncing into the vacation mode.

Now, to get moving…

Goalcast has several articles about the benefits of travel. Here’s one that talks about how travel helps us build stronger relationships. And here’s one great example: this guy traveled 10,000 miles across North America, asking 100 people to dance with him as he went.

Can you afford to get away? These sites/apps will help you.

~ Trip Advisor: Like Yelp, Trip Advisor is based on a rating and reviewing community. It’s the first place I start when I want to take a trip.

~ Backpacker: This site has everything you need to hike, camp, and live in the wild. Check out this article on “How to Forage Safely”. And this one that talks about the 10 best hike apps – most of which will help you identify the world as you hike, from the stars and plants to the horizon’s peaks and weather updates.

~ The Outbound: A community that promotes a lifestyle of getting out, doing new things, and seeing new places. Read this article about whether or how outdoorsy people are happier. “In fact, the vast majority of participants simply stood or sat outside for the time required and still experienced health and happiness increases.” And this one about why the author photographs the outdoors – “because of moments worth capturing.”

~ Hike Like a Woman: supporting… well, women hikers. As their website says, “A place where real outdoor women come to share experiences on and off the trails.”  There’s also the Outdoors Women’s Alliance – “Through the lens of human-powered adventure, we work to inspire confidence and leadership in women of all ages, believing that strong women have the power to build healthy communities and—quite literally—change the world.” Read about how this member faced her limits and ran uphill trails to peaks. Wanderlust and Lipstick: this one deserves an entire post of its own, and hopefully will get one soon. Beth has created a community of women who strive to be bold and leads tours around the world – some women-only, and others co-ed.

~ Lastly, Conde Nast Traveler, a site that helps you feel at home anywhere in the world, has an article about some great apps to take on the road. From a bathroom finder to AAA substitute, these are awesome and I’ll definitely be checking them out before my next trip.
